Here is an old recipe for hot apple cider.  It says to perk like coffee, but these days I think making it in the crockpot is the way to go.  Do you make it in a coffee percolator?  How does it come out?  Have any other tips?  Let us know in the comments section!

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1-1/2 teaspoons of Cloves
  • 1 teaspoon of Salt
  • 6 Cinnamon Sticks
  • 1/2 cup of Brown Sugar
  • 3-1/2 quarts of Apple Cider

DIRECTIONS:

Place the cloves, salt, cinnamon sticks and brown sugar into the basket of a coffee pot.  Put the the apple cider into the bottom of the coffee pot and perk as if it was coffee.

I think in modern coffee makers you would place everything in the basket, then pour the apple cider in the top part of the coffee maker.  For convenience, I think you could just place this all in a crockpot and let it steep together for several hours and serve!
