How to make an old fashioned peach cobbler.

  • 3 cups sliced peaches (canned)
  • 2 tablespoons soft brown sugar

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup butter softened
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • pinch of salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg optional

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Grease or oil a 2 quart baking dish.
  3. Spread sliced peaches in a single layer in the bottom of the baking dish. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons soft brown sugar over the top of the peaches.
  4. Beat granulated sugar and softened butter together in a medium bowl until combined (use an electric hand-mixer if you have one).
  5. Add flour, baking powder, nutmeg and salt, and mix to combine.
  6. Beat in egg and vanilla extract, until it resembles a thick batter.
  7. Spread batter evenly over the tops of peaches in the baking dish.
  8. Bake in preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes until crust is golden brown.
  9. Remove from oven and set aside for 5 to 10 minutes to cool before serving.
